Well, from looking at where d/l'er's will be getting the files right now, they appear to be on ia301215.us.archive.org. Whereas from an above msg, you possibly tried to go to ia301214.us.archive.org. I don't know how files shuffle around on the site, but to avoid confusion, the best way is to go to the item's details page> edit item> item manager> checkout> follow whatever instrucs it gives you for ftp right then, including whatever server number it gives you right then> replace or add files> checkin when ftp ops are for-sure done.

It will definitely show you your correct rads directory to go into via ftp, if you have done it correctly.

I don't know where the prior attempt actually went, but the best bet is to retry again now with that procedure. Sorry!

Checkout tells me to click on
ftp://hannan36ATcharter.net@ia301214.us.archive.org/rads2006-06-02.sbd.hdp2.flac

I've done that and described the problems above.

When I FTP to either ia301214 or 15, there are no dirs except for the default upper level.

I give up. THis system is too hard to figure out. Oh well.

Oy, I think I just saw a 1-digit-off report about something else a short while ago. In case it's some kind of weird new bug, maybe hold off on a fix attempt for right now. I'll see if someone can look at this.

did you login as your IA "library card" standard login name and password?

are you using MSIE? if so -- you might need to use your browser's "refresh" button to make it prompt you for a password.

if you never entered a password, it won't have logged you in.
are you using a FTP client (outside of Microsoft Internet Explorer)?

PS: and i should point out, I verified your upload dir is setup properly on the server for your item in your "personal" FTP upload dir on that box...

I'm not sure what an IA "library card" is.
I assume it's username=/Ken in my case.

Definitely having a problem authenticating via MEIE; I just have read access thru this browser no matter what pc I use.

As mentioned above, when I FTP directly to either IA301214 or IA301215 using either SmartFTP or command line FTP, I don't see any files or dirs at all. I'm supposed to go to directory /1/rads2006-06-02*, but I don't see it in the listing, can't change dir, etc. If I could get to this dir, I could probably fix the problem.

As mentioned above, when I FTP directly to either IA301214 or IA301215 using either SmartFTP or command line FTP, I don't see any files or dirs at all.

If your item is in the "checked out" state, and (for instance in Smartftp) you use the login = the email address you use for archive.org login, and password = the password you use for archive.org login, to log into the server indicated in the checkout instructions, then the FTP client should just take you right to displaying your rads directory, into which you can enter and manipulate files.

So by doing those very things (but *not* clicking the "check in" aka "click here when done" link before finished ftp'ing), you aren't seeing the dir? Hm, weird!

It's not checked out right now, BTW. It looks like the only time it's been checked out for more than a couple minutes before it was checked back in somehow, was when you originally uploaded the files.

Correct. using my email address as the username, when I connect to the FTP site, I don't see any dirs except for the highest level.

Somehow, I think originally specifying public domain and stuff has thrown a monkey wrench into the mix...

Thanks,
Ken

It's not the public domain thing, that's unrelated to the ftp stuff. I think it's something about the item getting checked in too fast. But you say you're *not* clicking the "here" link, so I don't know how that is happening.

The above problems have been resolved. I sheepishly admit that it was a serious case of user error and not paying enough attention :-/

FTP to IAnnnn14.archive.org put me directly into the /1 dir. When I checked yesterday, the files I uploaded were still there, and I noticed the rads2006-06-02.sbd.hdp2.flac dir to which I moved the files, checked-in, and done.

THank you for you continued patience in this matter :)

Wondering why this show doesn't show up when one searches for Radiators audio on www.archive.org. A couple of friends have also mentioned that they can't seem to find it.

http://www.archive.org/browse.php?collection=Radiators&field=%2Fmetadata%2Fyear shows me Radiators by year. Click on 2006, and this show isn't listed.

Anyone know what's wrong and how this can be fixed ?

THanks,
Ken

I think I found the problem- this particular one had been frozen possibly due to some kind of glitch. After the glitch was resolved, it was not unfrozen. Attended to it now- I think I see it in the search!
